The nominations for the 2012 Oracle Retail Excellence Awards are now closed. 
 
We are proud to recognize our customers’ outstanding achievements through the 2012 Oracle Retail Excellence Awards being presented at Oracle Retail CrossTalk in Chicago on June 26-28. The Oracle Retail Excellence Awards are given to those companies and individuals that are among a distinguished group of customers who have been recognized for using Oracle Retail solutions to lead their companies in the following categories:
 

Outstanding Achievement in Customer Experience Award

Customer experience has been a major focus of retailing over the past decade and many retailers view it as a distinct competitive advantage. Forrester Research defines Customer Experience as “how customers perceive their interactions with your company” - interactions are useful (deliver value), usable (make it easy to find and engage with the value), and enjoyable (emotionally engaging so that people want to use them).


The Oracle Retail Outstanding Achievement in Customer Experience award is presented to the company that is using Oracle Retail solutions to build a customer-centric retail operation to improve customer interactions and satisfaction-providing a more consistent, customer-tailored shopping experience as a significant point of differentiation.


Award Criteria
Candidates for this award will be judged on the following criteria:


  • Customer Experience Strategy and how the Oracle Retail solution fits into that strategy.
  • Activities and processes that help your company to stand out from your competitors, e.g. different activities or the same activities perform differently.
  • How Oracle Retail solutions are helping you build a customer-centric culture-a system of shared values and behaviors that focus employee activity on improving the customer experience.

Judging Panel
The judging panel for this award consists of a select committee of leading retail professionals and Oracle Retail senior management.

Outstanding Achievement in Business Performance Award

This award is given to the company that has most effectively used Oracle Retail solutions to enable their company’s growth strategy and achieve measurable improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs). Candidates for this award are customers who are using Oracle Retail solutions to increase same store sales or basket size, improve speed to market, streamline business processes, and/or lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for business systems.


Award Criteria
Candidates for this award will be judged on the following criteria since implementing the stated Oracle Retail solution:


  • Revenue
  • Gross Margin
  • Inventory Turn
  • Reduction of Inventory on Hand
  • Project Financial Metrics including: ROI, NOV, ROIC, IRR

Companies considered for this award have an implementation of Oracle Retail products that started no later than June 2009 and submitted the following information:


  1. What product(s) was implemented?
  2. What KPIs increased as a result of the implementation.
  3. Provide Oracle with the following documents:

    a. Internal results/presentation of findings both pre and post go live.

    b. Financial documentation supporting project results.

    c. Business documentation showing before and after process and technical modifications.

    d. Supporting documents 3rd party SI’s may have created including case studies.


Judging Panel
The judging panel for this award consists of Oracle Retail’s Insight Team-a team of highly specialized financial analysts, IT experts, and strategists. The Insight Team will review all submissions and narrow the submission list down to the top five candidates. They will conduct a 60 minute phone interview with all five candidates to learn more about the project and the nominees. After narrowing the nominations down to the top two finalists, the Insight Team will go onsite to the nominee’s head office and conduct a ½ day project review from which they will pick the winner and also gather data for internal case studies.

Oracle Retail Excellence Award for CIO of the Year

This award is given to the retail CIO that has demonstrated outstanding vision, leadership and technical expertise by using new technologies to change the retail experience and improve the way their company goes to market. Candidates for this award are customers who are using Oracle Retail solutions to lead their company’s growth strategy and collaborate with executive leadership and business groups to identify opportunities that deliver new value across their business.


Award Criteria
Candidates for this award will be judged on the following criteria:


  • CIO’s vision statement.
  • Description of the new identified opportunities, what Oracle Retail products are being used and how they are being used to bring the opportunities online.
  • Improvement metrics. (if applicable)

Judging Panel
The judging panel for this award consists of a select committee of leading retail professionals and Oracle Retail senior management.


Oracle Retail Excellence Award for Retail Executive of the Year

This award recognizes the Retail Executive in planning, merchandising, store, e-commerce, supply chain or other line of business leader that has most effectively harnessed the power Oracle Retail solutions. Candidates for this award are customers who are using Oracle Retail solutions to transform key business processes and enable the company’s overall growth strategy.


Award Criteria
Candidates for this award will be judged on the following criteria:


  • Demonstrable impact on the company, industry and business in general utilizing Oracle Retail products.
  • External benchmarks: Customer value and shareholder value created.
  • Innovativeness.
  • Employee engagement, leadership development and internal people processes.

Judging Panel
The judging panel for this award consists of a select committee of leading retail professionals and Oracle Retail senior management.


Oracle Retail Excellence Award for Innovator of the Year

This award is given to the retailer that is using Oracle Retail solutions to drive innovation within their company by adopting new best practices, transforming business operations, and creating a vision for the future. Candidates for this award are customers who are using Oracle Retail solutions to enable their business groups to achieve new levels of success.


Award Criteria
Candidates for this award will be judged on the following criteria:


  • Describe your corporate innovation.
    • Describe the business problem that your innovation addresses.
    • Outline how the Oracle Retail product line helped you have achieved company goals or overcome obstacles.

  • Describe your business approach for your target market(s).
    • Target customer segments and customers – internal or external.
    • Organizational structure focused on customer success and service.
    • Marketing strategy.
    • Sales strategy.

  • Outline your success(es). 
    • What is the impact of the innovation on your company in terms of revenue growth, cost reductions, process improvements?
    • What is the value/impact of your innovation for your internal or external market?

Judging Panel
The judging panel for this award consists of a select committee of leading retail professionals and Oracle Retail senior management.



We want to congratulate all the Oracle customers who were nominated this year. These nominations bring forward many outstanding stories of leadership, technical innovation, and success.
 
In addition, we would like to thank the companies and individuals who submitted the nominations for this year. 
 
Finalists in each category will be announced live at this year’s Oracle Retail CrossTalk opening ceremony and the winners will announced during the closing session on June 28th.
